The emotion of flamenco´s “duende”
One of the best current flamenco dancers, joining an excellent technique with a great artistic ambition
The Cádiz-born dancer and choreographer Sara Baras presents in the Pedralbes Festival her new show “Voces”, paying a homage to the flamenco masters, a pantheon haunted by Paco de Lucía, Antonio Gades, Camarón de la Isla, Enrique Morente or Moraíto. Legendary dancers, singers and musicians who are the link of a work that displays the splendor and the pain of flamenco.
It´s a suite that recovers the words of the masters, with commentaries that work as a leitmotiv and background to display the talent of the company, fifteen musicians and dancers featuring the guest dancer José Serrano. Sara Bara´s vibrant “zapateados” will be a spectacular counterpart, dressed in the classic flamenco “faralaes” dress or in slim fit black trousers and jacket.
According to what the director and main dancer said, who at 44 is living a splendid mature age period, the new show was born from the necessity of thanking those artists for what they have given us and keep on giving us through their art.
“Voces” is a flamenco work with a storyline that represents the different flamenco styles, sprinkled with details that make us feel the connection with those great geniuses. Seguiriya, taranta, farruca, tiento, soleá, tangos, romance, bulería… All these flamenco styles, blending tradition, freedom, discipline, sobriety, temperance, theatrical approach, respect, admiration and gratitude.
