Melancholic pop with intensity

Ausells is the phonetic transcription of the Word “ocells” in the Lleida Catalan dialect. This band has its base in Barcelona but its roots are in Lleida. Ferran Perera (vocals, acoustic guitar), Ramon M. Piqué (electric guitar and vocals), Jordi Granell (bass), Albert Carreras (keyboards) and Carlos Colmenares (drums and percussion) are a quintet that have been doing for a long time songs in a pop style that some consider as “melancholic with intensity”. But here we are dealing with a very eclectic sound, with very different influences that range from some quiet, acoustic textures to musical landscapes much closer to the nineties British shoegaze. These melodies are paired with everyday life lyrics, as if they were taken from a diary or from a photo album.

The other members of the band are Jordi (who already had played with Ferran in the nineties in the outstanding Leridan band Loopside) and Albert in the keyboards. Some months ago Carlos closed the loop of the band with his drums.
